It amazes me daily what a wonderful little girl you are turning into.   I love it how you say PEEEZ and THANKS when you ask for and are given things.  I love how you love your Gigi and your Mamie (”baby” for all you who don’t speak 16 month old), and how much you love to give your sister kisses and hugs.  I love how you play the pretend “feed mommy and daddy game”, constantly feeding us little pieces of air that you imagine to be something yummy and then saying “MMMM MMMM MMMM” after we are done.  I love your sloppy kisses and your nice hugs and the delight in your eyes when I tickle your tummy.

I just have one simple request for you.  You’re getting to an age now where you are really turning away from that baby stage into a rough and tumble toddler.  I know that you’re tired.  I know that your days are long.  I was just wondering if you can find it somewhere in that smart little body of yours to sleep through the night.

Hey, I know it’s a big transition.  Maybe start with just one or two days a week and go from there?  See how you like it..?? I promise that you’ll be a happier, less cranky kid if you do.  And the benefits to your Mommy & Daddy will be outstanding too.   I promise they will be.

If you’re afraid of monsters or the dark, don’t worry…I’ll spray your room with anti-monster spray and get you a night light.  Just please use your words and tell me exactly why you don’t like to sleep and I’ll fix it.  Your Mommy rocks that way.

Thanks for your careful consideration of this very important matter.
Love,

Mommy

  1. So sorry. What happens if you just let her cry?

  2. Ugh. I hope things improve soon. Maybe she’ll get the message after reading your letter.

If we let her cry, it escalates, and escalates. And then, bad things happens. Seas turning red, plagues of locusts, horrible boils…it’s biblical in proportion…
